Legal Support Fund
for South Brooklyn Community Members Targeted by ICE
Stand With South Brooklyn Families
Every day, families in South Brooklyn face the devastating impact of a loved one's detention. Your gift provides direct relief, covering legal representation and immediate needs so that fathers come home and families stay together.
Since the fall of 2025, immigration enforcement abductions in NYC increased significantly. Sunset Park and other South Brooklyn neighborhoods are one of the hotspots of activity. Agents primarily target men when they are leaving for or returning from work. These fathers and husbands are frequently the breadwinners for their families. After a loved one is detained, the family must scramble to cover new expenses, such as legal representation and commissary, as well as paying for rent, utilities, and groceries.
Organizers have been working in direct partnership with impacted families in South Brooklyn. We created the fund based on what families reported as challenges: paying for legal representation (there are limited pro bono services in NYC, and it can be difficult to find a pro bono lawyer in another state if your loved one is transferred). Another area where organizers offer support is with commissary. Different detention centers use different platforms, some of which can be challenging to navigate.
All funds donated to the Legal Support Fund will be used to pay for commissary and legal bills for the families and detained individuals we are working with.
